Responsibilities:Drive technical excellence by working independently to analyze, design, develop, test, and debug large and complex software enhancements and solutions within Charles River’s business and technical problem domains including modifications to core frameworks and other primary facilities critical to system operationCollaborate with Business Analysts and Product Managers to create simple and sustainable software solutions for complex problemsProvide thought leadership in the design of product architecture within and beyond the team’s scope of responsibilityMentor and coach senior engineers, elevating team capabilities and fostering a culture of technical excellenceDirect problem solving for projects or major phases of projects to resolve advanced software technical issuesDevelop, test, debug, and implement software programs, applications and projects using Java, C#, SQL, JavaScript, or other related software engineering languages as well as keeping abreast of emerging technologies impactful to CRD’s businessProvide informed guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes during code reviewsWrite unit and automation tests to ensure a high quality end productIdentify ways of improving development test methodologies and contribute to related test methodology frameworksEstablish and uphold quality standards across the development lifecycle to ensure a high quality end productProvide expert level troubleshooting on large, mission critical client implementationsLead and advance the agile software development process, championing the CRD scrum methodology including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectivesPlan and coordinate cross-team activities to complete assignmentsPreferred qualifications and education:B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics or other technical course of study required. MS degree strongly preferred.Experience:Experience with the Spring Boot Microservices and familiarity with the service deployment in cloud environments.Understanding of microservice architectures and KubernetesKnowledge and experience working with Kafka and message-based systemsA minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional software engineering experienceIdeally, a minimum of 6 years of experience in financial services developing solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR or Wealth Management is strongly desiredDeep expertise in object-oriented programming, relational databases (RDBMS), low-latency and high-performance systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practicesExperience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software delivery and improve code qualityDemonstrated problem solving abilities involving multi-tiered, high-performance database applicationsDemonstrated ability to design and develop simple software solutions to business and technical problems of high complexityOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsAble to work well with peers in a collaborative team environmentA minimum of 5 years working with an Agile development methodologySalary Range: $120,000 - $202,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
