Job Description

Summary:Work as a senior member of a Performance Engineering scrum team to assess and analyse performance of Charles River’s products. Identify potential bottlenecks and come up with possible recommendations. Provide support and assistance to customers and other teams within Charles River.Responsibilities:Partner with Product Owners, Engineering Teams, Architects, and Client Services to define Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), performance objectives, scalability goals, and workload models.Performance Benchmarking:Create comprehensive Performance test plans from Non-functional RequirementsCreate and maintain performance scripts within performance test FrameworksScenario and workload model designDesign and Develop end to end CI/ CD pipelines to execute performance tests and artifact collectionAnalyse results to identify potential bottlenecks and provide recommendationsSpin up and tear down Test Environments as and when required.Observability:Architect end to end observability strategiesEnhance the existing observability framework leveraging Dynatrace and OEMUnderstanding of Dynatrace agent deployment, configuration and onboardingDesign and develop end-to-end observability pipelineDashboard and alert configuration.Performance Engineering:Analyse infrastructure (On prem and cloud), Application (Code, JVM, database) performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunitiesPerform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) leveraging Azure monitoring, Dynatrace, OEMExpertise in Java and .Net code profilingExpertise in understanding AWR/ASH reports, SQL execution plans, thread dumps, heap dumps, GC logs, and observability dataLead performance investigations into production issues, client escalations, and providing actionable remediation recommendationsDrive performance engineering automation, capacity planning, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple product teams.Document software defects in issue tracking system, proactively communicate issues with developers and other project team membersAdhere to a testing schedule to ensure efficient and effective product deliveryActively participate in the agile software development process by adhering to the CRD Scrum methodology including attending all daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.Qualifications:Education:B.S. degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics or other technical course of study or Business with an MIS background. MS degree strongly preferred.Experience:12-15 years of experience in Performance Engineering DomainDemonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills involving multi-tiered, high-performance database applicationsExtensive experience with Performance Testing Tools (LoadRunner, JMeter, Neo Load or equivalent)Extensive experience with DynatraceExtensive experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA)Extensive experience with Azure Cloud platformExperience with C#, Java, SQL, Oracle, Python, PowerShell and BashExposure to Dev Ops skills, CICD Tools (Jenkins, TeamCity), Ansible, Terraform, Git/GitHub, Docker and KubernetesDemonstrated experience implementing and executing performance benchmarking against web, native/desktop applications, APIs and batch jobsDemonstrated ability translating business requirements into comprehensive non-functional and technical test plansKnowledge in Financial Services a plusA minimum of 5 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desiredEffective written and verbal communication skills.About Charles River Development:Charles River Investment management System in a platform that provides many Front-Office functions including Portfolio Management, Order Management and Execution, Compliance, Performance & Attribution, Modelling, Scenario Analysis, and Wealth Management.We are part of the State Street Bank.
