Job Description

The RoleThe Field Service Area Lead is a key operational and technical role within the Tesla Energy Infrastructure Service team, responsible for leading the delivery of service obligations for energy storage systems and charging infrastructure. We are seeking an experienced service, project, or asset manager with strong people leadership and excellent oral and written communication skills to interface with clients and oversee Japan and Philippines service operations. You will collaborate closely with the Asia Pacific Field Service Manager, Engineering, Sales, and Logistics teams to execute contractual requirements and ensure optimal performance of critical infrastructure projects, including industrial- and utility-scale battery energy storage systems, residential storage systems, and charging infrastructure. In this role, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy while contributing to the development of tools, processes, facilities, and personnel to enhance organizational productivity.ResponsibilitiesLead, coach, and develop teams to foster a high-performance, safety-first culture, including workforce planning, capability development, and succession pipelines.Provide strategic advice for mobilization and new business activities.Manage services for Tesla Energy Battery Storage and Charging Infrastructure assets in alignment with contracts, customer objectives, company KPIs, and service level agreements.Deliver preventative and reactive maintenance per service obligations, product warranties, and schedules.Manage a regional team of technicians, engineers, and electricians.Strategically operate and optimize systems, including inhouse CRM, data analytics (Power BI), ERP (SAP), and internal platforms.Handle recruitment and HR administration for a growing regional team.Enforce EHS standards and ensure accountability for field work.Conduct regular site inspections, lead event reporting and investigations, and support commissioning, onsite troubleshooting, and equipment failure analysis.Onboard and set up subcontractors, site service facilities, and site-specific service requirements in parallel with project deployment.Meet with clients and asset management teams to assess asset status, needs, risks, goals, and maintenance progress.Report on operational maintenance plans, testing, audits, performance, forecasts, plant services, budgets, and monthly reviews.Collaborate with asset management teams to ensure operations meet all obligations, performance guarantees, and company standards.Perform periodic online monitoring, incident recording, identification, and handling to maintain asset performance.Manage communications with external parties, including public authorities, grid operators, and key stakeholders, as well as subcontractor relationships for regional sites.Requirements5+ years of cross-functional experience in service, project, engineering, or asset management.Degree in engineering or equivalent trade qualification and experience.Clear understanding of field operations.Experience in power generation or renewables (advantageous).Background in medium- and high-voltage environments.Willingness to conduct regular site visits to energy locations within the designated region (1-2 weeks per month; 25%-50% travel).Valid driver's license.Ability to handle ambiguity, define and drive strategy, maintain attention to detail, and demonstrate success in complex problem-solving.Strong customer relationship-building and communication skills.Passionate and empathetic approach to collaborating with teams and partners to solve challenges.Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to use data and metrics for informed decisions.Capacity to execute multiple projects and tasks in parallel across teams, with the flexibility to pivot rapidly.Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Native-level Japanese with strong business-level English.
