Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical raw materials, component production and qualification activities at suppliers. This role will be responsible for selecting, qualifying, scaling battery cell materials (focuses on cell electrode) manufacturing processes and quality system at Tesla supplier locations. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new battery designs from initial concept through into full production.The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. The ideal candidate should be ready to push their limits, as they join in highly motivated and capable team to make unbelievable things into reality.Responsibilities Review/setup, qualify& scale process flow for battery cell electrode manufacturing.Monitor production output at existing facilities and support expansion programs with existing suppliersSetup In-process, OQC and corresponding IQC material quality controls; qualified required metrology for the same.Qualify capacity expansion for existing cell electrode products.Drive electrode related FA at Supplier location.Project manage activities at supplier locations and ensure all required milestones are meeting Tesla product qualification on timeAct as a technical contact point for battery electrode manufacturing processes and co-ordinate activities within internal and external teams.RequirementsMS/PhD in Chemical, Material, Mechanical or related engineering discipline, with 3+ years of experience in battery cell electrode manufacturing process & quality control, or 2+ years of battery supplier management.Working knowledge of high volume battery cell manufacturing process and quality control, especially electrode process, and electrode impact on cell performance.Hands-on experience in developing OQC/IQC and metrology qualification for cell electrodes, including GRR, MSA.Must be well versed in statistical data analysis & process capability analysis, Cpk, Cp, Pp, Ppk.Experience in characterizing electrode materials using techniques like peeling strength, TGA, DSC, viscometer, moisture analysis, SEM, EDS, etc.Good communication and presentation skills.Ability to travel – 75%.
