Job Description

Tesla's Supplier Industrialization Engineer team is responsible for component quality control, manufacturing process development, and production of parts related to our vehicles, Tesla Energy, batteries, and other critical components. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Supplier Industrialization Engineer (SIE) to support our supply chain teams and manufacturing partners on drive unit related components, including Gears, Stator Cores, Busbars, Fasteners, and Assemblies.This role reports to the SIE Manager and sits within the Supply Chain Organization, supporting NPI development, TQP (Tesla Qualification Process), supplier quality improvement, and cost reduction activities. The SIE will collaborate closely with the Mechanical Engineering team, Gigafactory Material Planning, Quality Assurance, and key suppliers to ensure quality and delivery targets are met.Responsibilities:• Lead supply chain industrialization: plan, organize, and conduct supplier audits to build robust manufacturing, assembly, and quality processes for drive unit commodities (Gears, Stator Cores, Busbars, Fasteners, and Assemblies) from prototype to mass production• Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers: conduct DFM reviews in stamping, welding, and machining processes, and provide materials input for enhanced design, manufacturability, and cost savings• Facilitate technical communication between suppliers and Tesla teams (Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, and Testing) to define clear specifications and metrics• Track and improve quality for sustaining products: support continuous improvements (OEE, TPM, Lean, VAVE) while guiding suppliers on efficient, high-quality production to boost scalability and reduce costs• Resolve supplier quality issues quickly: validate corrective and preventive actions (FACA/SCAR) for design and process problems, ensuring reliable part performance, delivery, and overall reliability• Collaborate with Tesla Design, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to set performance targets and ensure alignment from NPI through mass productionRequirements:• 10+ years of hands-on experience in supplier quality, engineering, or manufacturing roles within the automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience preferred), preferably in drive unit or powertrain sectors• BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience• Hands-on knowledge of drive unit commodities: Gears, Stator Cores, Busbars, Fasteners, and Assemblies (e.g. Relay Assembly)• Familiarity with manufacturing processes including but not limited to Stamping, Welding, and Machining• Expertise in Quality Systems (PPAP/APQP), GD&T, inspection, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing; Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred• Strong statistical knowledge and data-driven approach to problem-solving; proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, JMP, SPSS, or equivalent tools for data analysis.• Proven leadership in guiding suppliers at management level, with solid project management experience• Ability to excel in fast-paced settings; effective in building relationships with suppliers, peers, and cross-functional teams while working independently under pressure• Fluent in English for complex technical communication with global stakeholders• Comfortable with frequent travel (40–60%), including on short notice

Required Qualifications
