Job Description

Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results:To support APAC valuation tasks for Australia and Singapore as follows:Assist in internal US GAAP reporting, local statutory reporting (e.g. ALCO and ORSA), as well as annual reserve and expense studyAssist in setting reserves for financial close, conduct claims and loss ratio detailed movement analysis and understanding of underlying key driversAssist in APAC reporting, e.g. monthly PYD computation and analysisAssist in IFRS17 reporting and related task including implementation and transition to business-as-usual processAssist in meeting both internal and external audit requirements for local reporting and IFRS 17 reportingData preparation and assist in the development and maintenance of claims/actuarial database and analytic dashboardsProvide support in optimizing and streamlining reserving processes. This includes proposing and implementing improvements while maintaining robust controls and proper documentationParticipate in actuarial reserving projects and collaborate with other business functions in ad-hoc projects to implement key strategic initiativesAny other ad-hoc tasks as assignedKey Challenges/Anticipated Changes in Environment:Able to juggle priorities and work under pressure to meet tight deadlinesHave strong financial acumen and professional integrity. Able to balance and apply actuarial principles in a commercial settingDevelopmental Value of Position: Develop the ability to work independently while taking ownership to contribute actively to a high-performing team environmentCultivate a strong growth mindset to have a deep hunger and willingness to experiment, explore and broaden actuarial expertiseStrengthen communication and interpersonal skills to productively interact with cross-functional colleagues.Experience/Knowledge, Education and Other Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field of studyAssociate level or candidates actively pursuing actuarial qualifications from the Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or comparable actuarial bodies5+ years of relevant actuarial experience.Good knowledge and experience of valuation and reporting processGood understanding in health insurance, health claim process, healthcare systems, IFRS17 is a plusGood knowledge and strong interest in programming (e.g. Alteryx, AWS, ResQ, SQL and Tableau). Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Access, Powerpoint etc.)Strong communication and presentation skillsPersonal Competencies Required: Have good understanding of the Actuarial valuation function and operating modelsStrong analytical and numerical skills, applied to insurance and finance data domainsAbility to apply technical knowledge and skills in automating and streamlining work processesFast learner and detail oriented. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field of study (degree in actuarial science or related field of study)
  • Associate level or candidates actively pursuing actuarial qualifications from the Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or comparable actuarial bodies (experience)
  • 5+ years of relevant actuarial experience. (experience, 5 years)
  • Good knowledge and experience of valuation and reporting process (experience)
  • Good understanding in health insurance, health claim process, healthcare systems, IFRS17 is a plus (experience)
