You will provide cross-regional internal legal support, with a focus on France. There will also be opportunities to expand the reach of this role to other EMEA countries based on the team's needs. The Associate Corporate Counsel will also be expected to provide strategic input to all France businesses, assessing their needs and putting in place appropriate processes and procedures to ensure they are receiving the legal support they require. The Associate Corporate Counsel will therefore be required to have considerable skills in risk assessment and process improvement and be able to work with senior leadership to achieve these goals.Key responsibilitiesAdvice, draft, negotiate various types of agreements (sales agreements, collaboration agreements, IT agreements, co-marketing agreements, license agreements, procurement agreements, MSAs, etc)Ensure compliance with laws (including MedTech Europe and French anti-gift and sunshine laws), policies and processesAssist with settlements and dispute resolution mattersProvide legal advice on matters including healthcare complianceAct as a cross-functional partner on competition law, regulatory, data privacy and intellectual property topicsContribute to the team's harmonization and digitization strategiesAlign with leadership on priorities and goalsEducate and train employees regarding templates, laws, processes and procedures, etcMentor more junior employees in carrying out contract reviews, negotiations and amendmentsBe the main legal representative on France leadership teams, including the Country Commercial Leadership team for France as requiredRequirementsQualified and admitted as a lawyer in FranceProven experience of more than 10 years in-house (or in international law firm) in general commercial/transactional legal work (in life science, pharma, biotech industry an advantage)Strong experience in the key responsibilities described aboveExcellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skillsStrong commercial awareness and business sense (including the ability to influence business teams)Ability to develop processes, to find pragmatic solutions to problems and to prioritize workAbility to work independentlyAbility to work in a matrixed, fast paced and changing environmentPossess flexibility and ability to think laterallyFluent in English and FrenchLocationThis position can be based in Villebon-sur-Yvette or remote in France.Apply Now!Join our exceptional team at Thermo Fisher Scientific and contribute to our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Required Qualifications

  • Qualified and admitted as a lawyer in France (experience)
  • Proven experience of more than 10 years in-house (or in international law firm) in general commercial/transactional legal work (in life science, pharma, biotech industry an advantage) (experience, 10 years)
  • Strong experience in the key responsibilities described above (experience)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills (experience)
  • Strong commercial awareness and business sense (including the ability to influence business teams) (experience)
  • Ability to develop processes, to find pragmatic solutions to problems and to prioritize work (experience)
  • Ability to work independently (experience)
  • Ability to work in a matrixed, fast paced and changing environment (experience)
  • Possess flexibility and ability to think laterally (experience)
  • Fluent in English and French (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Advice, draft, negotiate various types of agreements (sales agreements, collaboration agreements, IT agreements, co-marketing agreements, license agreements, procurement agreements, MSAs, etc)
  • Ensure compliance with laws (including MedTech Europe and French anti-gift and sunshine laws), policies and processes
  • Assist with settlements and dispute resolution matters
  • Provide legal advice on matters including healthcare compliance
  • Act as a cross-functional partner on competition law, regulatory, data privacy and intellectual property topics
  • Contribute to the team's harmonization and digitization strategies
  • Align with leadership on priorities and goals
  • Educate and train employees regarding templates, laws, processes and procedures, etc
  • Mentor more junior employees in carrying out contract reviews, negotiations and amendments
  • Be the main legal representative on France leadership teams, including the Country Commercial Leadership team for France as required
