We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to develop solutions for some of the world's toughest scientific challenges.Discover Impactful WorkAs a Buyer II, you will play an important role in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials that support manufacturing operations and ultimately enable Thermo Fisher Scientific to deliver innovative products to customers worldwide.Working within our Procurement organization, you will manage supplier relationships, execute sourcing activities, optimize inventory levels, and ensure the timely procurement of materials. You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and suppliers to drive operational excellence, improve supply continuity, and support business objectives.This role also requires proactive identification and qualification of alternate sources for end-of-life (EOL) components or materials that may impact supply continuity.A Day in the LifeExecute procurement activities to ensure timely availability of materials that support manufacturing and business operations.Manage supplier relationships to achieve performance targets related to quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve supply, delivery, or quality issues.Identify and qualify alternative suppliers or components for end-of-life (EOL) materials and supply continuity risks.Analyze demand, inventory levels, and material requirements using ERP and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to support production schedules and business priorities.Support inventory optimization initiatives while maintaining required service levels.Participate in supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings and operational improvements.Utilize data analysis to identify trends, improve procurement performance, and support informed business decisions.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.EducationMinimum QualificationsAdvanced Degree with no prior experience; orBachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of procurement or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.Preferred Fields of StudySupply Chain ManagementBusiness AdministrationOperations ManagementEngineeringRelated disciplinePreferred CertificationsAPICSCertified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)ExperiencePreferredProcurement experience supporting electronics manufacturing, including electronic (EE) and electromechanical (EM) components or printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards.Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory management, and supplier relationship management.Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments (FDA and/or ISO standards).Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable insights.Effective negotiation skills with a proven ability to achieve cost and process improvements.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.Multilingual capabilities are an advantage but not required.Ability to travel occasionally to supplier locations as business needs require.BenefitsWe offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plans, excellent healthcare, retirement savings, employee stock purchase plan, career development opportunities, and a collaborative culture where your contributions help make a difference around the world.Our MissionOur Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
