Work ScheduleStandard (Mon-Fri)Environmental ConditionsOfficeJob DescriptionThe Intern – Application Scientist works at the intersection of product development, the scientific community, and customer support. The Intern is involved in technical discussions, explores and tests new solutions to enhance system capabilities, and develops a detailed, in-depth understanding of the application of our tools. This person collaborates with Applications, Technology, Systems, and Software groups to ensure that product requirements are well understood, developed, implemented, and thoroughly tested.Responsibilities:Participation in advanced development projects.Gaining detailed knowledge of company systems with a focus on applications.Testing of workflows, new system features, and solutions, and reporting the results.Supporting the development and optimization of sample-preparation workflows for analytical applications, including EBSD.Contribution to scientific and technical publications, including application notes, papers, posters, and conference proceedings.Demonstrating good independent judgment and creative thinking when developing new approaches or selecting known methods and techniques to solve application challenges.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate application needs into product and workflow requirements.Requirements:The position is ideal for a student with:Bachelor’s or MSc studies in a technical or scientific field, such as materials science, physics, chemistry, engineering, or a related discipline.Curiosity about working with analytical systems and advanced microscopy workflows.Knowledge of optical microscopy would be beneficial.Prior knowledge of analytical systems, EBSD in particular, is an advantage.Basic understanding of sample-preparation techniques such as mechanical polishing, ion polishing, or cross-section preparation would be an advantage.Familiarity with Python or other scripting/data-analysis tools is an advantage.Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written.Result-oriented mindset, teamwork skills, flexibility, and ability to work in a dynamic environment.How do we motivate you?Flexible working hours that make it easy to combine work with your studies.Access to our brand-new Hackerspace, equipped with a VR headset, recording studio for videos, music, and podcasts, Lego Mindstorms, a 3D printer, Arduino, and much more.Free Multisport card.Meal allowance and access to a company canteen, with free fruit and vegetables every day.Modern work environment including relaxation zones, a gym, an outdoor playground, and massages in the building.An open and friendly company culture, including a company rock band, sports teams, and other community activities.

Required Qualifications

  • The position is ideal for a student with: (experience)
