Work ScheduleSecond Shift (Afternoons)Environmental ConditionsOfficeJob DescriptionPrincipal Programmer AnalystDivision / Dept.: Biostatistics (Center of Excellence)Reports to Title: Associate Director or AboveSummarized PurposeActs as the technical lead on multiple clinical technical initiatives supporting Biostatistics, Centralized Monitoring and Clinical Data Management. Oversees the design, development, maintenance, and support of enterprise applications, databases, and data integration solutions used in the business.Works directly with cross-functional business stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency, data quality, and business decision-making across Biostatistics, Centralized Monitoring and Clinical Data Management. Provides technical leadership and drives process improvements while supporting initiatives.Essential FunctionsServes as the technical lead on clinical application development projects supporting Centralized Monitoring, Clinical Data Management, and Biostatistics.Leads decisions and establishes development standards and best practices.Evaluates innovative technologies and recommends solutions that improve application scalability, maintainability, and performance.Collaborates with cross-functional teams to prioritize enhancements and define long-term application roadmaps.Designs, develops, maintains, and enhances GUI-based applications used by internal clinical teams to review, validate, modify, and manage clinical operational and study data.Develops and maintains enterprise integrations between .NET/C++ applications, Microsoft SQL Server operational databases, Snowflake repositories to support operational leadership.Designs, develops, and maintains SQL Server and Snowflake database structures including tables, views, stored procedures, and automated data integration processes.Develops and maintains data mapping, validation, and synchronization processes that acquire data from Thermo Fisher enterprise platforms, transform the data into SQL Server operational databases, and publish curated datasets to Snowflake repositories for reporting and analytics.Partners directly with business stake holders including management to gather business requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and provide ongoing application support.Independently investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves data integration issues impacting operations while ensuring no disruption to operations.Suggests, plans, and implements technology improvements that enhance process efficiencies, data quality, application performance, and automation across business.Develops supporting documentation in accordance with internal policy.Supports validation and testing activities associated with releases.Contributes to technology evaluations, departmental initiatives.Provides timely production support for business-critical applications, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing clinical operations.Education and Experience QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, or related discipline. and at least 10 years of experience providing GUI development, database programming, and enterprise application support.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong programming experience using Microsoft .NET technologies and C++.Experience with REST APIs and system integrations.Strong Microsoft SQL Server development experience.Experience designing and developing Snowflake databases, views, data pipelines, and optimized queries.Strong SQL programming skills, including stored procedures, views, functions, and performance optimization.Experience designing GUI interfaces supporting user requirements.Knowledge of clinical trial or pharmaceutical industry.Experience developing data integration.Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.Strong understanding of relational database architecture.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong customer service orientation. through working effectively with business stakeholders.Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring abilities.Delivery and quality driven.Management RoleNo direct management responsibility.Provides technical leadership, mentoring, project leadership, and subject matter expertise across multiple technology initiatives.No travel requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, or related discipline. and at least 10 years of experience providing GUI development, database programming, and enterprise application support. (experience, 10 years)
