This role is responsible for financial management of the Global Payroll budget while supporting financial planning and analysis activities across assigned Global Functions. Responsibilities include budgeting, forecasting, headcount planning, cost allocation, vendor spend management, financial reporting, and strategic decision support. The position ensures strong financial governance, transparency, and accurate financial management across both operational and project-related activities.ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary Finance business partner to the Sr. Director, Global Payroll while providing financial support across Global Functions, including HR and other functional organizations.Provide financial leadership and decision support, communicating risks, opportunities, and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.Own the Global Payroll operating budget and support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across assigned Global Functions.Develop financial models and perform scenario analyses to support workforce planning, investment decisions, and resource allocation.Analyze financial performance, explain variances, and deliver actionable insights to improve business outcomes.Manage cost allocations, accruals, and other financial controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate financial reporting.Support financial management of strategic initiatives, including technology implementations, vendor engagements, and process improvement efforts.Oversee vendor spend, invoice validation, and project financial tracking to ensure effective cost management and budget adherence.Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, supporting month-end and quarter-end close activities.Identify and implement continuous improvements that enhance financial planning, reporting, governance, and operational efficiency.LocationPrimary office location is Waltham, MA (Thermo Fisher Scientific Headquarters).Minimum Requirements & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; MBA and/or CPA/CFA preferred.5+ years of progressive finance experience with responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting.Working knowledge of accrual accounting, cost allocation methodologies, financial controls, and month-end close processes.Experience with enterprise ERP, HRIS, and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday, ADP, Hyperion, OneStream, or similar) preferred.Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively with senior leaders across a global organization.Demonstrated ability to operate independently, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results in a complex, matrixed environment.Strong collaboration skills with a proven ability to build relationships, drive accountability, and lead process improvements across cross-functional teams.Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and accountability, with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems, and delivering results.Travel requirementsLess than 10% domestic/international travel requiredCompensation and BenefitsThe salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $103,100.00–$154,700.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; MBA and/or CPA/CFA preferred. (degree in finance)
  • 5+ years of progressive finance experience with responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting. (experience, 5 years)
