You will contribute to developing fully automated, sample-to-report NGS workflows for both clinical and research applications, with a focus on oncology. Working with cross-functional teams of algorithm developers, software engineers, molecular biologists, and product managers, you will help advance genomic analysis and precision medicine. LocationThis is a fully onsite position based in South San Francisco, CA or Pleasanton, CA site. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.A Day in the LifeDesign, develop, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines supporting next-generation sequencing (NGS) workflows for oncology and other clinical and research applicationsDevelop automation tools and scalable software solutions to streamline genomic data processing and analysisCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, algorithm developers, molecular biologists, and product managers, to deliver integrated sample-to-report solutionsValidate bioinformatics algorithms and workflows while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standardsTranslate customer and scientific requirements into technical specifications and software requirementsSupport product development through data analysis, troubleshooting, testing, and documentationMaintain clear technical documentation and contribute to continuous process improvement initiativesKeys to SuccessEducationBachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related biological field with 8+ years of experience in bioinformatics, with focus on NGS applications and oncology; OR Advanced Degree with 6+ years of experience ExperienceExperience developing bioinformatics pipelines and genomic analysis workflows in regulated environmentsProficiency with common bioinformatics tools and algorithms for NGS analysisExperience with variant calling, sequence alignment, and functional annotationStrong programming skills in Python, Perl, and shell scriptingExpertise working in Linux/Unix environments and relational databasesExperience with testing and documentation in regulated environmentsExperience supporting cross-functional software or product development teamsExperience with cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization technologiesKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning techniquesFamiliarity with Java programming is desiredDemonstrated project coordination and cross-functional team collaborationClear written and verbal communication skillsDetail-oriented with ability to adapt to team standardsUnderstanding of clinical and regulatory requirements for diagnostic applicationsKnowledge of software development best practices and version control systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesOtherMust be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the futureMust be able to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screCompensation and BenefitsThe salary range estimated for this position based in California is $129,400.00–$165,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
