The Mobile Storage Shop Foreman leads daily shop operations for mobile storage equipment by planning and directing technician workflow, overseeing advanced diagnostics and repairs, and ensuring safe, efficient use of people, equipment, and materials. This role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon company needs.What you’ll do:Plan, coordinate, and oversee Fleet Technician workflow to maximize shop productivity, safety, and service levels.Operations Coordination and Workflow ManagementPlan, organize, and schedule Fleet Technician activities as neededDelegate tasks and enforce safety proceduresMonitor employees and ensure that work is done correctlyTrain and coach Fleet Technicians when necessaryPrioritize work order requests/items to maximize shop efficiencyCoordinate workflow and task sequencing to optimize productivityServe as liaison between Fleet Technicians and managementWhen necessary and without supervision, accurately order needed parts using reference material as required, including communication with all necessary vendors and suppliersPerform and oversee advanced equipment repair and diagnostics at the branch and customer locations.Using a high degree of independent judgement, responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of mobile storage equipment, including containers, ground-level offices, office trailers, and modular buildings at branch or customer locationsAbility to diagnose problems with all mobile storage equipment appropriately, utilizing schematics and diagnostic programsPerform advanced, non-standard, and multi-trade troubleshooting, including HVAC, electrical, structural problems, complex leaks or damageComplete complex repairs: remove, repair, and install floors, tiles, roofs, walls, framing, doors, windows, screens, caulking, painting, filters/dampers, replacing skin, trimMaintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basisRecord preventative and ready inspection completion in Rental Flow procedures utilizing work orders and required mobile applicationsDocument parts and labor accurately within the required mobile applicationsAssist peers in developing diagnostic skills and may perform Fleet Technician functions when necessaryWhen required, travel to the customer site for repair/maintenance of mobile storage equipmentMaintain a service vehicle in a clean and professional mannerMay assist in the pick up and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other United Rentals locations for purchase and/or repairRequirements:High School diploma or equivalent5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and toolsManufacturer-sponsored training a plusTrade school training preferredActive, applicable state-class driver’s licenseAdvanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of toolsGood leadership, teamwork, and customer service skillsAdvanced knowledge of the rental cycleWorking knowledge of company computer systemsWorking knowledge of schematics and diagramsGood time management skillsAdvanced diagnostic and repair skills for a variety of systemsKnowledge of mobile storage equipment; manufacturers’ warranty process; and work order/time spent accountingRequires the ability to compile and communicate information accuratelyAbility to coach and mentor Fleet Technicians on advanced technical skillsFor Safety Sensitive Roles:This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.Why join us?We don’t just “talk the talk!” We’re an award-winning company (recently named a Glassdoor Best Place to Work in 2026) that truly cares about our people - That’s why we offer best-in-class benefits and perks that will support you and your family. Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools (experience, 5 years)
  • Manufacturer-sponsored training a plus (experience)
  • Trade school training preferred (experience)
  • Active, applicable state-class driver’s license (experience)
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools (experience)
  • Good leadership, teamwork, and customer service skills (experience)
  • Advanced knowledge of the rental cycle (experience)
  • Working knowledge of company computer systems (experience)
  • Working knowledge of schematics and diagrams (experience)
  • Good time management skills (experience)
  • Advanced diagnostic and repair skills for a variety of systems (experience)
  • Knowledge of mobile storage equipment; manufacturers’ warranty process; and work order/time spent accounting (experience)
  • Requires the ability to compile and communicate information accurately (experience)
  • Ability to coach and mentor Fleet Technicians on advanced technical skills (experience)

Responsibilities
