Your Role Accountabilities...As a Senior Software Engineer on CNN's Site Performance Team, you will make significant contributions enhancing the performance and user experience of one of the world's leading news and media platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize site performance focusing on speed, responsiveness, and scalability. Identifying and addressing bottlenecks in code, databases, and infrastructure to ensure lightning-fast page load times and smooth user interactions.This position will also contribute to using and implementing monitoring and analytics tools to track and analyze site performance metrics. Utilizing data-driven insights to proactively identify performance issues, make informed decisions, and continuously improve the platform.Work primarily in modern JavaScript using AWS (Amazon Web Services)Contribute to the code & architecture reviews and champion best practices for the organization by defining and evolving engineering standardsStrong inter-team and cross-team communicationFollow a progressive development methodology, moving from proofs of concept to prototypes to production releasesPassionate about software engineering with a strong sense of ownershipWorking in Agile methodologies for organized and distributed work within the teamQualifications & Experience... 5+ years of experience working with other developers on a production system5+ years of experience with JavaScript, including ES6/7 and asynchronous JavaScript.Experience with performance monitoring and analytics tools like Datadog, New Relic, or similar.Ability to review group or company level priorities (such as OKRs) breaking down problems into meaningful tasks and solutions working with peers within the team cross-functionally across the organization.Deep industry experience with modern development technologies, and hands-on familiarity with both client and server technology.
