Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience of troubleshooting and electrical work on diesel or natural gas trucks. (experience, 2 years)
• Specialize in Cummins and Paccar engines or similar. (experience)
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License is preferred. (experience)
• Clean driving record required. (experience)
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. (experience)
• Welding experience preferred. (experience)
• Must provide own personal tools. (experience)

Responsibilities

• Perform engine, transmission and hydraulic pump overhauls.
• Read wire schematics and perform electrical troubleshooting.
• Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services. Performs inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
• Collaborate with other diesel mechanics
• Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
• Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
• Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

• WORK CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Back, leg, arm and shoulder strength required to safely climb in, on and around vehicles to inspect and repair.
• Ability to work in awkward, tight, or restricted spaces for extended periods of time; Requires the ability to sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, and be able to get up and down from a supine position.
• Work environment involves some exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts which require following basic safety precautions.
• The employee is exposed to outside weather, including frequent wet and/or humid conditions, as well as exposure to fumes and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate.
