Job Description

Landfill Gas Technician – Oakdale, LASchedule: 100% outdoor role • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM • On‑call nights & weekendsWaste Connections is seeking a hands‑on, safety‑focused Landfill Gas Technician to join our team in Oakdale, LA. This role is fully outdoors and requires working in all weather conditions. You’ll be part of a small, skilled team responsible for maintaining and optimizing the landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) that supports safe and compliant landfill operations.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, repair, and maintain landfill gas system components in the fieldPull, clean, and service pumps according to the preventive maintenance schedulePerform well‑field valve and vacuum adjustments to ensure proper system performanceRun and fuse poly pipe as needed for system expansions or repairsCalibrate, operate, and maintain electronic monitoring and data‑collection equipmentRespond to after‑hours GCCS alarms or malfunctions on an on‑call rotationComplete additional duties as assigned to support landfill operationsWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsWork is performed entirely outdoors, year‑round, in all weather conditionsFrequent exposure to dirt, odors, uneven terrain, and other landfill‑related elementsRequires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs.Regular walking, bending, climbing, and working on slopes or rough groundRequires attention to detail, taking extensive notes and effectively communicating with supervisor.Why work for Waste Connections?Competitive PayYearly Boot StipendMedical, Dental and Vision BenefitsMatching 401(K) up to 5%Stable year-round work!Click this video learn more about us! Required Qualifications

  • Work is performed entirely outdoors, year‑round, in all weather conditions (experience)
  • Frequent exposure to dirt, odors, uneven terrain, and other landfill‑related elements (experience)
  • Requires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs. (experience)
  • Regular walking, bending, climbing, and working on slopes or rough ground (experience)
  • Requires attention to detail, taking extensive notes and effectively communicating with supervisor. (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain landfill gas system components in the field
