About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in our Credit Card Personal Lending and Retail Services Group as part of Consumer Technology. Learn more about the career areas and business divisions at wellsfargojobs.com.The Credit Card Personal Lending and Retail Services (CPLR) team within Consumer Technology is focused on enhancing and modernizing Wells Fargo's credit card platform while supporting the launch of new products and customer capabilities. The group partners closely with the business to deliver changes across the credit card portfolio, including new product offerings, feature enhancements, and improvements to the overall customer experience. At the same time, the team is driving a broader modernization effort to improve the scalability, reliability, and long-term supportability of the platform. The Lead Software Engineer will play a key role in designing and delivering these solutions while helping support the ongoing evolution of Wells Fargo's credit card technology landscape.In this role, you will:Lead complex technology initiatives, including those that are companywide with broad impact, driving the design, development, and delivery of highly scalable, secure, resilient, cloud-native applications and technology solutions.Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions, including modern software engineering disciplines, cloud-native architectures, microservices, AI-assisted development practices, and emerging technologies.Design, code, test, debug, and document projects and programs using modern engineering practices and technologies, including Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud-native design patterns, and GenAI-powered development tools to improve productivity and software quality.Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technology environments, and technical challenges requiring in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including application architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, security, operational excellence, and emerging technology considerations.Make decisions in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions, requiring an understanding of industry best practices, new technologies, software engineering principles, modern architectural patterns, and AI-assisted development capabilities, while influencing and leading technology teams to meet deliverables and drive innovation.Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology teams, architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues, deliver high-quality solutions, and achieve business and technology objectives.Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor by providing technical guidance, conducting reviews, promoting engineering excellence, helping resolve complex technical challenges, and supporting the adoption of modern development practices and technology solutions across the organization.Required Qualifications:5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education5+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade full-stack applications using Java, Spring Framework, and Spring Boot2+ years of experience with NoSQL Databases such as Mongo, Cassandra1+ years of experience leveraging Generative AI (GenAI) technologies and AI-assisted development platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, Claude, or similar toolsDesired Qualifications:Certification in Google/Azure Cloud, AWS Associate level / OpenShift Container Platform ( OCP)Experience with Kafka, Pub/Sub, and real-time streaming application developmentProficiency with automated testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and WireMockStrong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practicesHands-on experience with Docker and containerized application developmentExperience deploying and managing applications using KubernetesKnowledge of modern application deployment, monitoring, logging, and observability practicesUnderstanding of Secure SDLC principles and secure software development practicesExperience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automationJob Expectations:This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorshipThis position requires a hybrid in office work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days remote)Job Location: 2600 S Price Rd - Chandler, Arizona 85286401 Las Colinas Blvd W Building A - Irving, Texas 75039300 S.
