TCS NQT Resume Format (2026–27): What TCS Actually Reads, When, and What It Asks About

Search “TCS NQT resume format” and you get Scribd uploads, an old Quora thread and resume-builder pages. None of them cites TCS. This guide starts from TCS’s own documents, linked at the foot, and from candidates who sat the interview in 2026. Where TCS has not published something, we say so.

Where your resume enters the TCS NQT process

Most resume advice assumes a recruiter screens your CV and decides whether to call you. TCS’s off-campus NQT drive works in a different order. Registration asks for your academic details on the NextStep portal. Your test score decides the shortlist. The resume only arrives later, as an upload inside the application form. Then an interviewer reads a copy of it across the table from you.

What TCS says, and what ranking pages say instead

We read the pages that rank for this query on google.co.in (checked 30 Sep 2026). Several state eligibility rules that differ from TCS’s own page. Your resume has to satisfy the real rules, because TCS re-checks eligibility “at every stage of the selection process”.

Prime vs Digital vs Ninja: what each resume should lead with

TCS hires NQT candidates into three cadres. It publishes the pay band and a one-line “nature of work” for each. That description is the best signal of what an interviewer for each cadre wants to hear, so we built the resume emphasis from it.

For 1–2 years of experience TCS lists slightly higher bands: Prime ₹9.45–9.66 LPA (UG) and ₹12.05–12.26 LPA (PG); Digital ₹7.50–7.72 LPA (UG) and ₹7.82–8.04 LPA (PG). TCS adds that actual pay depends on relevant experience and job location.

TCS says the latest drive focused on Prime and Digital, with Ninja offers “based on the performance during the hiring process”. In practice one resume goes to all three. Lead with your strongest Prime or Digital signal, and make sure the fundamentals section can carry a Ninja interview too.

The one-page TCS NQT resume format, section by section

TCS’s head of employer branding, writing on tcs.com, says evaluators spend “eight to ten seconds per résumé”. He tells candidates to follow the employer’s submission guidelines on font, format, size and structure, and to avoid “clichéd phrases from a web search or résumé repository”. For a fresher that means one page, in this order:

1. Header. Name, phone, email, city, LinkedIn and GitHub. Leave out date of birth, religion and marital status; TCS collects what it needs in the form. Use the exact name on your Aadhaar and marksheets, because the registration takes it from your Aadhaar.
2. Education. Degree, college, year of passing and the same figure you typed on NextStep. If your college grades in CGPA, write it as “7.2 CGPA (72%)” using TCS’s ×10 rule, so no one has to guess. Include class 12/Diploma and class 10 with percentages. If you have a gap, give it a line (“Jun 2022–Jan 2023: preparation for GATE”) rather than leaving a hole.
3. Technical skills. Only what you can write on paper. Group them: languages, databases, tools, cloud. In a 2026 Prime interview the candidate was asked to write constructors, Fibonacci three ways and a BST on an A4 sheet. Put your strongest language first; the interviewer will ask which one you prefer.
4. Projects (2–3). For each, one line on the problem, one on the stack, and one or two on what you did. Interviewers asked “What was your contribution?” in more than one 2026 report. Add a number where you honestly have one: users, response time, dataset size.
5. Internships and experience. Dates, company and what you shipped. Say plainly if an internship ended without a full-time offer; one 2026 selectee found that being upfront helped.
6. Certifications and achievements. Coding ratings (CodeChef, Codeforces, LeetCode), hackathons, GATE, cloud certificates. Expect to defend each one. A 2026 interviewer called one candidate’s AWS Cloud Practitioner certificate “basic”, then tested them on it.
7. Positions of responsibility (optional). Only if you can talk about it for five minutes. A TEDx organiser line in one 2026 resume took up a large share of the managerial round.

Every line is a question: what 2026 interviewers asked from resumes

We read three first-hand TCS interview reports posted on LeetCode Discuss in 2026: one Digital selectee (off-campus NQT), one Digital-track candidate from priority hiring (offered an ASE Trainee role), and one Prime candidate (result pending when posted). They are three people’s accounts, not a survey. Across all three, though, the questions tracked the resume closely.

The same candidate noticed that interviews held at a TCS office went deeper into Java, SQL, DBMS, operating systems and basic DSA than theirs did at a college venue. That is one person’s comparison. Prepare for the deeper version.

Check your eligibility and resume details against TCS’s rules

The rules below are copied from TCS’s NQT page for the batch of 2024–26 drive. The checker applies the same rules. If it flags something, fix it before you write the resume, because a resume cannot rescue an ineligible profile.

Five resume mistakes that cost TCS NQT candidates

• Percentages that don’t match the form. TCS disqualifies “discrepant” details at any stage. Use one figure everywhere, converted with CGPA × 10.
• Skills you can’t write on paper. Every listed language and database is fair game. In 2026 reports candidates wrote code by hand on A4 sheets.
• Team projects with no “I”. “Built a bus-tracking app” invites “What was your part?” Answer it on the page first.
• Copied summaries. TCS’s HR head says evaluators can spot “boilerplate, cut-copied texts”. Leave out an objective line rather than paste one.
• Hiding a gap. Declaration is mandatory, and documents are checked. A one-line explanation reads far better than a missing year.

TCS NQT 2027 batch: what we know about the next drive

As of 30 September 2026, TCS’s NQT hiring page shows the drive for batches 2024, 2025 and 2026 with registration closed. That drive opened on 18 February 2026, took registrations until 20 March 2026 and ran tests from 10 March 2026. TCS has not yet published a drive for the 2027 batch there. Dates for 2027 that circulate elsewhere are not from TCS. Bookmark the official NQT hiring page, and use the time to get the resume right. The rules above have been stable across recent drives, but re-check them when the new notice appears.
